Some people always seem ready to help. They spring into action when necessary, help others to feel secure, have a considerate face and best of all, this concern appears to emanate from them, quite naturally.  I always marvel at their strength and willingness to be there for those in need. Lately, I have been thinking about the characteristics that make someone THAT person, and I realize we all have the ability, some just have more of the desire.

It is my belief that concern for others is a muscle we can grow, develop and call upon as needed. Naturally, not everyone is focused on helping, and that is understandable. Life is busy, complicated and demanding.

We are meeting many people in our new community and it is both exciting and a bit overwhelming. Defining and identifying the traits and characteristics that feel similarly aligned to mine is important. I find myself attracted to dynamic people who share similar values, including concern for others’ well-being, as well as the desire to step in when necessary.

I am not suggesting that we always be thinking about our next opportunity to be heroic, simply to support and lift others when called upon to do so. Giving a little extra, paying it forward, providing confidence or simply a compliment can make all the difference for another, and is the gift that truly keeps on giving back.

Spring is around the corner, Daylight Savings brings more sunshine, days are beginning to get longer, the flowers will be blooming. Hope springs eternal, and I am hoping for a great one for all!
