Self Image and the Ostomate
Over the years, I have wondered if there is a shallowness to the adoration I had for those red shoes. But as I look back on all that has transpired over the 23 years and 23 abdominal surgeries that occurred, I realize that sometimes it is simply easier to imagine losing a pair of shoes, than all that I stood on the precipice of losing.

Having body image issues for my entire life pushed me early on to learn every trick possible for dressing for success…and not the success we usually think of as women entered the workforce in greater numbers. I am not referring to professional attire as women sat across from men in the boardroom. I am referring to seeking the successful feeling of accentuating the positives and playing down the negatives.
